Few sights compare to awesome Chamonix- a quaint little town in the shadow of  Mont Blanc. It is located halfway down the east side of France, just below lake Geneva (Switzerland) nestled between two massiffs Mount Blanc and Aiguilles Rouges in the valley of the river Arve and fed by the glaciers on the Mont Blanc side; Chamonix is one of the most northerly of the French alpine resorts located within just one hour of Geneva airport, from where there is a regular bus service and there’s also a train station in the town.

With superbly picturesque backdrop and skiing areas that reveal better views the higher you climb Chamonix is amazing. The panoramas from the station at Aiguille du Midi – a peak just below Mont Blanc – are jaw-dropping, and can be reached by one of the world’s most scenic cable car rides.

Hiking in Chamonix is also incredible. There are a whole range of other adventures that can be had from Chamonix, including climbing, via ferrata, kayaking, rafting, and glacier walking. The term ‘adventure capital’ is overused, but Chamonix could stake a good claim for that title.

It is a world-renowned ski destination, and through the winter months, the hotel prices jump. Through the summer months, it’s a different story, particularly outside of the main school holiday weeks. There are literally dozens and dozens of options available. So don’t hop Chamonix on a quick tour, if you can spare some days in Chamonix you will have a sweet flavor to your holiday.
